The faithful and friends of Holy Nativity of the Lord Church here gathered to celebrate the formal groundbreaking for their new facility on Saturday, February 7, 2015.

“We are very grateful for the investment the Diocese of the South and the Orthodox Church in America made in us over the three-year period during which we received the Church Planting Grant,” said Priest Jason Foster, Priest-in-Charge.  “Without the financial support we received on the local and national level, Holy Nativity would not be at the place or in the location we are standing on today.”

The Phase I building is a multipurpose structure that includes the temple, a warming kitchen, bathrooms and hall/rec center area.

“This is a very exciting day in the life of Holy Nativity,” Father Jason noted.  “We are very thankful for all of the people who have donated land, time, talent and treasure to make this vision become a reality. Our plan, God willing, is to move into this facility on Palm Sunday. While we are very thankful for all that is taking place, our eyes are focused on constructing a temple to the glory of God and in honor of the Nativity of our Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ in the near future.”

Special guests at the celebration included Archpriest Basil (Dean of the Dallas Deanery) and Matushka Christine Zebrun, Ft. Worth, TX; Priest David Bozeman, Waxahachie, TX ; Priest Daniel and Presbytera Maria Bethancourt, Shreveport, LA; Mother Barbara and Svetlana of the Nativity of the Lord Monastery, Kemp, TX; and Presbytera Mirela Tudora, Euless, TX.

Father Jason and Matushka Katherine expressed their sincere thanks to everyone who attended the celebration and look forward to the dedication of the new facility, tentatively scheduled for June of this year.
