Saint Katherine of Alexandria Mission, Carlsbad, CA, was the recent recipient of the newly instituted annual mission grant provided by Saint Tikhon’s Monastery Bookstore and Press.  The $1,000.00 grant is designated for newly planted Orthodox missions in the US and Canada that are five years old or younger.

Saint Katherine’s was selected from a list of 19 mission parishes submitting grant requests through an on-line survey designed to learn more about the mission and its currents needs.  The mission also will begin its third and final year as a recipient of the Orthodox Church in America’s Planting Grant Program in January 2016.  [See related story.]

The mission was established in 2012 by His Eminence, Archbishop Benjamin of San Francisco and the West.  According to Priest Andrew Cuneo, after only a few short years the mission now has an average Sunday attendance of 75 people.  The mission recently started its own bookstore to provide literature for enquirers, converts and existing members.  The grant will jump start their bookstore ministry with merchandise, credit or cash.

Saint Tikhon’s Monastery Bookstore and Press has served the Church since 1938, providing for the liturgical and spiritual needs of both parish and home.  Missions that would like to be considered for the 2016 grant may do so at www.stspress.com/mission-grant before September 1, 2016.  For additional information contact Innocent Neal at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
