On Tuesday, May 1, 2018, Saint Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary [SVOTS] will host the second of three webinars featuring recent Doctor of Ministry graduates, who will present their final projects.

While participation in one or all of the webinars is free, space is limited.  The deadline to register for the May 1 webinar is Sunday, April 29.

The hour-long webinar will begin at 2:00 p.m. EDT.

“This second webinar session will feature Priest John E. Parker III, D.Min., Rector of Holy Ascension Church in Charleston, SC and Chair of the OCA’s Department of Evangelization,” said Subdeacon Alexander (Pradeep) Hatcher, SVOTS Director of Institutional and Advancement Communications.  “Father John’s presentation is titled ‘Radechesis: A Radical Return to the Roots of Christian Catechism.’”

“Sociologist of Religion Amy Slagle has said, ‘The Orthodox Church in the United States has no uniform, cross-jurisdictional program for instructing and bringing new adult members into its fold,’” explained Father John.  “In my experience, as demonstrated in the survey prepared for this effort, it is more often the case than not that new adult converts are educated to be parochial Masters of Divinity students, rather than being prepared to be divinized students of the Master.”

In this webinar, Father John Parker will share a summary overview of his unique D.Min. work to address this issue.

Registrants for Father John’s presentation will receive a link to join the webinar via email.
