STOTS to celebrate 80th Anniversary October 11-13
Saint Tikhon’s Orthodox Theological Seminary [STOTS] will be celebrating its eight decades of spiritually forming and theologically educating the future hierarchs, clergy, and lay leaders of the Orthodox Church with a three-day gala October 11-13, 2018.
The celebration will open on Thursday, October 11 with the celebration of Vespers and Matins in Saint Tikhon of Zadonsk Monastery Church at 4:30 p.m. A reception for the recently appointed Dean, Archpriest John Parker, will follow at 6:30 p.m.
On Friday, October 12, the Symposium, titled “Where Saints Have Walked,” will open with the celebration of the Divine Liturgy at 7:00 a.m. followed by a continental breakfast in the seminary dining hall. The morning’s presentation, titled “A History of Saint Tikhon’s Through Liturgical Artifacts,” will be delivered by Archpriest John Perich, Curator of the Monastery’s Museum. In the afternoon, Archpriests Daniel Geeza and Eugene Pianovich will offer a presentation titled “Reminiscences of Saint Nikolai of Zhicha.” Vespers and Matins will follow in the Monastery Church. At 6:30 p.m., a Grand Banquet will be held at the Hilton Hotel, Scranton, PA.
The Symposium will close on Saturday, October 13, with the celebration of the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy, at which His Beatitude, Metropolitan Tikhon, will preside. Responses will be sung by the Saint Tikhon Alumni Choir under the direction of Archpriest Daniel Kovalak. A brunch will follow in the seminary dining hall.
