Summer internships available at historic Juneau church

Juneau

Applications are now being taken for summer internships at Saint Nicholas Church, Juneau, AK.

Consecrated in 1894, the historic church has attracted thousands of pilgrims and tour groups for many years.  [Visit the parish web site at www.stnicholasjuneau.org for additional information.]

“The internship program provides an opportunity for the parish to conduct church tours and keep its bookstore/gift shop open,” said His Grace, Bishop David.  “It provides opportunities to share information about the Orthodox Christian faith and the historic church as well as to accept donations for the church’s restoration.  The internship program also allows for eligible interns to share their Orthodox faith, explore Juneau and, if desired, pursue additional travel in Alaska.”

Summer internships require a 10 to 12 week, full-time commitment from June through August.  Interns will give church tours emphasizing the unique history of Saint Nicholas Church and answering questions related to the faith and the church, staffing the church bookstore and gift shop, and performing other duties as assigned, based on the interns’ talents and the church’s needs.  Round trip transportation costs will be paid for all interns, who also will receive stipends.  Interns may lodge at Wickersham House (no cost) or procure their own housing.  All interns are expected to be flexible with the type of work to be done and to work in cooperation with church members and other volunteers.  Training will be provided.

High school graduates 18 years of age or older may apply by completing the intern application available and submitting it to the address found at www.stnicholasjuneau.org/contact.html.  A current resume and at least one letter of recommendation must accompany the application.  All documents should be sent in PDF or WORD format no later than May 23, 2014.  Please key in INTERNSHIP on the e-mail subject line.
