Veterans Day: The Spiritual Lives of Soldiers
The Orthodox Church in America’s Department of Christian Service and Humanitarian Aid has made available a timely article, titled “The Spiritual Lives of Soldiers: After the Fighting is over,” by Archpriest Jerome Cwiklinski in conjunction with the observance of Veterans Day on Wednesday, November 11, 2015.
A priest of the Orthodox Church in America who recently retired from decades of service as a US Navy Chaplain, Father Jerome continues to provide services at San Diego’s Marine Corps Recruit Depot and Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center, Twenty-Nine Palms, CA.
In his article, Father Jerome discusses the after-effects of war and essential care for and ministry to returning veterans. He also explains the important role parishes can play in helping veterans readjust to civilian life.
