Search opened for part-time OCA Pension Plan Administrator
SYOSSET, NY [OCA Communications] — The Pension Board of the Orthodox Church in America is seeking a part-time administrator who will be resopnsible for ensuring the implementation and administration of the OCA Pension Plan.
The part-time position involves ten to fifteen hours per week.
Under the direction of the OCA Pension Board, the administrator will implement the Pension Plan and maintain appropriate records of all plan participants and beneficiaries. In conjunction with the Board he or she will develop, implement, and update policies, procedures, and forms.
In addition, the administrator will consult with professional advisors (legal counsel, actuary, certified public accountants, and others) regarding laws, regulations, trends and opportunities affecting benefit plans and recommends new or revised policies and procedures as appropriate; notify individuals of eligibility for participation in the Pension Plan; obtain enrollment information and, if applicable, paperwork declining coverage; ensure completion of all appropriate paperwork for new enrollees and participants; process requests for retirement benefits, distributions, etc.; provide the Board with information for review of benefit requests; answer participants’ questions regarding policies, procedures, and benefits; research and disseminate topical or timely information to the Board on employee benefit issues; establish and maintain records, files, minutes, and reports; maintain lists of eligible employees, participants and retired beneficiaries; supervise the plan bookkeeper; prepare monthly bank reconciliation; serve as a liaison with the external accounting firm to ensure the completion of annual audits; prepare agendas and documentation needed for regular and special Board meetings; perform other related duties as required or as assigned.
A minimum of five years experience is required in one or more of the following areas: human resources, employee benefits, finance, accounting.
Supervisory or managerial experience desirable. Also required is a college degree; the ability to keep personnel matters confidential; and the ability to work well with pension participants, beneficiaries, Board members and outside consultants.
