Parish Background
Our mission began in the year 2012 in the town of Parker. A founding group of Orthodox Christians had gathered together for many months, praying and strategizing toward an ever greater witness of Christ and His Holy Church. We first met in the home of a Parker family that commuted nearly an hour to attend church in Colorado Springs. We discovered other families in the area commuting nearly as far and long to attend parishes in Denver. Together these families were enthusiastic and visionary toward the establishment of an Orthodox mission centered in the town of Parker. With support from clergy and parishioners from several Orthodox parishes of the Front Range, we had a mission “core” from which to grow. Our first liturgy was served in December 2012, and we began meeting once a month for Divine Liturgy. After a year, our parish was named for Saint Tikhon; we also began serving Divine Liturgy every week, although still in a temporary meeting space.
In January 2016 we moved to our new location at 19035 Plaza Drive. This building now provides visibility and a public presence in the town of Parker, where we can continue to grow. Here we now can offer a more robust service schedule - be sure to check our calendar for upcoming services. Our first service for Pascha in May 2016 was a joy for all and we pray for many more to come.
Our community includes persons from traditionally Orthodox countries, most of our adult faithful are converts from other Christian traditions. The Orthodox Church has become home to literally tens of thousands of Americans who have discovered the great richness and stability of Orthodox Christian worship, doctrine, spirituality, and life.
