Venerable Onouphrios and Auxentios of Vologda
In 1499 these venerable Fathers came to a completely deserted place in Gryazovets, located 35 versts from Vologda. They founded a hermitage with a church in honor of the Holy Trinity, which was called Pertsov, or, according to other sources, Pertsev. Until their most blessed repose, the monks contested there, patiently enduring all kinds of adversities in the harsh, impassable forest. The date of the repose of Saints Onouphrios and Auxentios is not known. Their closest descendants already revered the Pertsov ascetics as holy God-pleasers. Shortly after their repose they were glorified as Saints, and their names were included in all the lists of ancient Saints. According to the old manuscripts, these Saints are commemorated on June 12.
A XVIII century description of Russian Saints mentions: "The Venerable Fathers Onouphrios and Auxentios, who were in the Pertsov Hermitage in the year 7007." In 1588 the Hermitage was assigned to the monastery founded by Venerable Cornelius of Komel (May 19, 1538), which was abolished in 1764.
The relics of Venerable Onouphrios and Auxentios were buried in a hidden place in Holy Trinity Church, which became a parish church. Later the place was given to the Vologda women's Monastery, and a Skete was built there for the nuns
