Archpriest Joseph A. Kreshik, 89, peacefully fell asleep in the Lord at Manor By The Sea, Ocean Grove, NJ on Monday, May 28, 2018.
Born in Shenandoah, PA, the son of the late Andrew and Nellie Kreshik, Father Joseph proudly served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was ordained to the priesthood in 1958 at Saint Nicholas Church, Salem, MA, his first parish assignment. He went on to serve Saint Michael Church, Newark, NJ; Saint John the Baptist Church, Spring Valley, NY; Holy Trinity Church, Yonkers, NY; and Saints Peter and Paul Church, South River, NJ.
Father Joseph was predeceased by his loving wife, Matushka Luba [Pacala] Kreshik; their children Joseph A. Kreshik Jr. and Valerie
Kreshik; and his brothers, Mitred Archpriest Wassil Kreshik and Paul Kreshik. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Anne Kreshik; his nephew Andrew Kreshik; his niece Kyra Hazou; and his cousin and caregiver, Joseph Poremski and his wife Dee.
Visitation will commence at Saints Peter and Paul Church, 76 Whitehead Avenue, South River, NJ at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 31. The Funeral Service for a Priest will be celebrated at 6:00 p.m. The Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at the church at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, June 1. Interment will follow at Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery, South River, NJ. Services will be celebrated by His Eminence, Archbishop Michael of New York and New Jersey, with area clergy concelebrating.
