Deacon Bohdan A. Melnychenko, 71, who had served Holy Trinity Parish here since his ordination to the diaconate in 2006, fell asleep in the Lord at his home in Apple Valley, MN on the morning of the Great Feast of the Dormition—August 15, 2017. He had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in December 2016.
Deacon Bohdan is survived by his beloved wife, Terri Catherine; brother George [Desiree] Melnychenko; aunt Halya Martynenko; and cousins Natalie Melnychenko and Alexander [Pat] Martynenko. He is further survived by the entire membership of Holy Trinity community, who according to Archpriest Jonathan Proctor, Rector, “will miss his liturgical leadership and extraordinary pastoral care.”
Visitation will begin at Holy Trinity Church, 956 Forest Street, Saint Paul, MN, at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 20, and continue through the celebration of the Panikhida at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will resume at the church at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, August 21. The Funeral Service will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., after which a memorial luncheon will be held at Archangel Michael Hall. Interment will follow at Saint Mary’s Cathedral Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN.
