Matushka Elekonida “Ella” Kashevarof, 92, fell asleep in the Lord peacefully at home with her family by her side on Sunday, May 12, 2019. She was the beloved wife of the late Deacon Andronik P. Kashevarof.
Matushka Ella was born on Saint George Island, AK on November 14, 1926 to Christopher and Elizabeth Malavansky. She was a humble person and devoted mother with a kind soul. She sang in the church choir for many, many years until she and her late husband relocated to Anchorage, AK in 2006. She was a living example of the Bible verse, “And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.”
Matushka Ella is survived by her daughters, Gladys (Anthony) Merculief, Beverly (Christopher) Mierzejek; her sons, Andronik Jr. (Sharon) Kashevarof, Gilbert, Jeffery (Georgia) Kashevarof; 15 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by two daughters, Anastasia and Clara.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, Christopher and Elizabeth Malavansky and and Clara Kashevarof.
Visitation will commence at Saint Innocent Cathedral, 401 Turpin Street, Anchorage, AK on Thursday, May 16, 2019 at 12:00 p.m. followed by the Funeral Service at 1:00 p.m. Interment will will be held at the Angelus Memorial Park Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. A repast will follow at the cathedral.
