Mary Kay Perove, 96, of Garvey Manor, passed away Thursday evening, November 24, 2022, after a beautiful and fruitful life. Mary was born in Aliquippa to Aqualina and Samuel Kovolenko.
After graduation, she worked at the J&L Steel Plant as an executive secretary. While attending an event at Pennsylvania State University, she met the love of her life, Archpriest Alexander P. Perove and was happily married until his death on December 12, 1992.
She is survived by her two sons, David, with his wife, Audie in Oregon City, OR, and Stephen with his wife, Joan in Altoona; grandson, Benjamin; granddaughters, Lauren Perove and her daughter, Everly, and Alexandra Gilbertson and husband, Jake, and their sons, Cameron and Cruz.
Mary had an incredible love of God, church, faith and family and imparted that love with passion while teaching her sons to follow their own path and chase their own dreams without reservation.
Mary immediately lit up any room she entered and made an impact on so many people. She was a joyful presence with a bubbly personality and filled her home with warmth and kindness and generosity. Mary excelled at lifting her family and friends and supporting them through the many passions and difficulties of their lives. She made it her mission to enrich and improve the lives of others. She was very generous to many charities and organizations throughout her lifetime. We will miss her greatly. She will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
Funeral Liturgy will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 1, 2022, at Saints Peter and Paul Orthodox Church, 2027 13th Ave., Altoona, PA, by Archpriest Andrew Matychak. Interment will be at Saints Peter and Paul Orthodox Cemetery, Altoona, PA.
