Preoteasa Alice Nenson, wife of the late Archpriest Daniel Nenson, fell asleep in the Lord at Regina Wascana Grace Hospice on December 9, 2016.

Born on July 21, 1941 in Limerick, SK to pioneers Nick and Vera Lipan, Preoteasa Alice was raised in the Orthodox Christian faith.  She and her husband faithfully served parishes in Assiniboia, Calgary, Dysart and Regina, SK, where she was an active member of the Saint George Romanian Orthodox Ladies’ Auxiliary for many years.  She spent many summers as a cook, counselor and care giver at Saint Nicholas Camp, Fort Qu’Appelle, where the campers looked forward to gathering around the table for one of her meals.  Hospitality was a gift she shared not only with campers, but with everyone who entered the Nenson home.  She compiled a recipe book, titled “Nenson Family Favourites,” which reflected her love of the culinary arts and her Romanian-Canadian heritage.

Preoteasa Alice spent 50 years employed as a high school secretary, court stenographer, and legal assistant.  She joined the newsroom staff at the Leader-Post in the 1980s, compiling and writing events for the Lifestyles section.  Prior to her retirement at the age of 70, she worked for Hansard, the official recorder of the debates and proceedings of the Saskatchewan legislature.  She bravely battled Crohn’s, rheumatoid arthritis and cancer.  The saying, “being deeply loved by someone gives you strength; loving someone deeply gives you courage,” defined her in her life and in her repose.

In addition to Father Daniel, who fell asleep in the Lord in February 2016, Preoteasa Alice was predeceased by two sisters.  She is survived by her children Timothy, Douglas, Garrett (Susan), Lisa (Greg), Brian, and Patricia (Paul); nine grandchildren; and her oldest sister.

The Wake Service will be celebrated at Saint George Romanian Orthodox Cathedral, 2005 Edgar Street, Regina, SK at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 15.  Funeral services will be celebrated at the cathedral at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, December 16.

May Preoteasa Alice’s memory be eternal!
