His Beatitude, Metropolitan Tikhon presided at the 113th annual Memorial Day Pilgrimage to Saint Tikhon’s Monastery, South Canaan, PA May 26-29, 2017.
The pilgrimage officially opened on Friday afternoon, May 26 with the arrival of the Myrrh Streaming Hawaiian Icon of the Iveron Mother of God. On Monday, May 29—Memorial Day—Metropolitan Tikhon presided at the celebration of the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy. Concelebrating were His Eminence, Archbishop Mark of Philadelphia and Eastern Pennsylvania; His Eminence, Archbishop Irénée of Ottawa and the Archdiocese of Canada; His Eminence, Archbishop Michael of New York and New Jersey, Rector of Saint Tikhon’s Seminary; and His Grace, Bishop Thomas of the Diocese of Charleston, Oakland, and the Mid-Atlantic of the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North America, who addressed graduates of Saint Tikhon’s Seminary during Commencement Exercises on Saturday, May 27.
The weekend was filled with numerous liturgical services, including a Panikhida for departed veterans; the Anointing of the sick, infirm and all pilgrims; and the Akathistos Hymn in honor of Saint Alexis Toth sung by a group of seminarians, a video of which is available for viewing.
