The OCA Director of Development and Stewardship, the Very Reverend John Dresko, has begun to schedule parish visitations to discuss the work and programs of The Orthodox Church in America. He is preaching here at St. John the Baptist Church in Rochester, NY.
Fr. Dresko serves with the pastor of the parish he visits, then gives a presentation on the various programs of the OCA, including departmental work. He also informs parishioners of the various ways one can support the work of the Church, including the annual gifts offered to the Fellowship of Orthodox Stewards, donating appreciated stock as a major gift to the program work or to the endowment funds of the OCA, and planning the disposition of one’s estate and the possible tax benefits that one can achieve through a planned gift.
Workshops on planned giving and parish and individual stewardship are also available upon request. Fr. John can do one-day retreat/workshops on the Christian Principles of Stewardship, Moving a Parish from Dues to Voluntary First-Portion Giving, Conducting a mini-Capital Campaign, and Planned Giving. Workshops can be offered to a parish, a parish council and/or stewardship committee, and deanery (or pan-Orthodox area) groups.
For more information, or to request a workshop, retreat or visitation, please visit the Office of Development and Stewardship page on the OCA web site.
