On Saturday, October 18, 2014, His Beatitude, Metropolitan Tikhon, accompanied by Archpriest John Jillions, OCA Chancellor and other representatives of the Orthodox Church in America, attended the Ground Blessing for the Saint Nicholas National Shrine on the site of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
His Eminence, Archbishop Demetrios of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, presided at the Blessing and Doxology for the Shrine, which will replace Saint Nicholas Church which was destroyed in the attack on the World Trade Center.
