On Tuesday, September 6, 2016, His Beatitude, Metropolitan Tikhon attended a lunch honoring the Rev. Dr. Olav Fykse Tveit, General Secretary of the World Council of Churches, at the Chancery of the Northeast American Diocese of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church, Muttontown, NY.
Hosting the gathering was His Grace, Metropolitan Zachariah Mar Nicholovos of the Northeast Diocese.
A well known Norwegian theologian, Rev. Tviet was elected General Secretary of the WCC in August 2009 and has guided the organization since January 2010. He was re-elected to a second term in July 2014.
Metropolitan Tikhon and the attendees engaged in discussions on a wide variety of topics affecting Church life today.

Irinel Racos, JUD, Chancellor of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Rockville Centre, NY; Mrs. Ann Glynn Mackoul of the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North America, WCC Executive Committee Member; and the Revs. Paulose T.
