On Tuesday, November 10, 2015, His Beatitude, Metropolitan Tikhon concelebrated the Divine Liturgy with His Eminence, Archbishop Michael of New York and New Jersey at Saints Peter and Paul Church, South River, NJ. The Liturgy marked the opening of the Diocese’s annual Assembly.
Following the Divine Liturgy, Metropolitan Tikhon addressed clergy and lay delegates and shared his vision for the ongoing life of the Church in the next triennium and beyond.
The Assembly continued on Wednesday, November 11 with a full day of educational forums on evangelization and financial stewardship. Joseph Kormos, Director of Parish Development Ministry for the Archdiocese of Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania, addressed the laity on “Qualities of an Evangelizing Parish: Motivation, Awareness, Invitation, Engagement,” while Matushka Mary Breton, CPA, Diocesan Treasurer, offered a workshop on “Transitioning to Proportional Giving.” Five sessions on stewardship as sacred offering were presented to the clergy by Father Robert Holet, D. Min., Continuing Education Provider for the OCA
Department of Continuing Education.
