On Sunday evening Metropolitan Tikhon led the community at SVOTS in the Vespers of Forgiveness Sunday and the Rite of Forgiveness. Metropolitan Tikhon reminded the students, faculty and their families that in asking for forgiveness within a community, “we begin to live that ideal of the Christian life of living not for ourselves alone, but for our Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.”
On Monday and Tuesday, Metropolitan Tikhon led the seminary’s annual lenten retreat. The theme of Metropolitan Tikhon’s four-part retreat was asceticism, obedience, fasting, and love in community. Audio of the metropolitan’s talks is available at the seminary’s Soundcloud page, with the texts available below:
On Wednesday and Thursday, Metropolitan Tikhon presided at the services at the Monastery and Seminary of Saint Tikhon of Zadonsk, and served the Divine Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts in the monastery church on Friday morning. Following the Divine Liturgy, His Beatitude greeted the monastics, students, faculty and their families reminding them that, “this journey that we are on is not just the journey of Great Lent, but rather the journey of our every day lives as we struggle to live a life in Christ. This week the Church, in her wisdom, gives us a multitude of services so that we may be strengthened, and in our struggles, but not because of them, we may receive grace from our Lord.”
