On Sunday, April 10, the fifth Sunday of Great Lent, His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon made a pastoral visit to the Connecticut Deanery of the Diocese of New England.
On Sunday morning, His Beatitude, in his role as Locum Tenens of the Diocese, travelled to Holy Transfiguration Orthodox Church in New Haven, CT to preside at the Hierarchical Liturgy and the ordination of Deacon Ambrose Powell to the Holy Priesthood. During the Divine Liturgy, Metropolitan Tikhon awarded the skufia and nabedrenik to Priest John Mikitish for his service to the Diocese and the Central Administration. He also presented Subdeacon Paul Tvardzik and John Kruchok with a Diocesan Gramota in recognition of their faithful service to the parish.
Concelebrating with His Beatitude were Archpriest John Kreta, Chancellor of the Diocese, Archpriest Steven Voytovich, Rector, Priest Alessandro Margheritino, Secretary of the Orthodox Church in America, Priest John Mikitish, and Priest Moses Locke.
On Sunday afternoon, Metropolitan Tikhon traveled to Three Saints Orthodox Church in Ansonia, CT to preside at the annual Holy Unction service sponsored by the Connecticut Deanery. Concelebrating with His Beatitude were many priests and deacons of the deanery who welcomed a large crowd from different parts of Connecticut.
