On the weekend of November 2 - 3, 2013, His Beatitude, Metropolitan Tikhon, visited Holy Trinity Church, Parma, OH, to preside at the parish’s celebration of its 50th Anniversary. On Saturday evening, he attended Great Vespers, which was followed by a reception in the church hall. He fielded a variety of questions from attendees and addressed a number of issues that were raised.
On Sunday, Metropolitan Tikhon presided at the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy. After vesting, he tonsured Parish Council President Barry Gluntz to the order of Reader. During the Liturgy, the parish’s Deacon Anthony Kall and Deacon Edward Reta were elevated to the rank of Protodeacon.
At the conclusion of the Liturgy, Metropolitan Tikhon greeted the faithful with the parish feast and presented Archpriest Alexander Garklavs, rector, and Matushka Carol with the Order of Saint Innocent. Joining the local clergy and concelebrating were Archpriests Rade Merick and George York, both of whom were associated with the parish and both of whom were married at Holy Trinity during Archpriest Vladimir Berzonsky’s 48-year pastorate.
A festive banquet followed at a local restaurant, at which several other local clergy and guests were present.
