His Beatitude, Metropolitan Tikhon presided at the annual pilgrimage to the Monastery of the Transfiguration, Ellwood City, PA August 4-6, 2018.
The gathering marked 50th Anniversary of the monastery’s establishment by the late Mother Alexandra, the former Princess Ileana of Romania, in the late 1960s. Hundreds of pilgrims from across the US and Canada were warmly welcomed by Mother Christophora, Abbess, and the Sisterhood.
Metropolitan Tikhon presided at the celebration of the festal Vigil and Hierarchical Divine Liturgy. Other hierarchs who attended the pilgrimage included His Eminence, Archbishop Nathaniel of Detroit and the Romanian Episcopate; His Eminence, Archbishop Melchisedek of Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania; His Eminence, Archbishop Benjamin of San Francisco and the West; His Grace, Bishop Irinej of the Serbian Orthodox Diocese of Eastern America; and His Grace, Bishop Paul of Chicago and the Midwest.
The day closed with the celebration of the Mystery of Holy Unction by Bishop Paul and seven priests.
