From June 22-23, 2013, His Beatitude, Metropolitan Tikhon, made his first visit as Primate of the Orthodox Church in America to the Diocese of the West. Metropolitan Tikhon and His Eminence, Archbishop Benjamin, served the Vigil and Divine Liturgy for the Great Feast of Pentecost at the Holy Trinity Cathedral, San Francisco. Sunday’s Liturgy was followed by the celebration of Kneeling Vespers with a procession around the cathedral. A reception followed in the parish hall. Archbishop Benjamin presented an eagle rug (orletz) to Metropolitan Tikhon, which was especially prepared for Metropolitan Tikhon, as it depicts an eagle soaring above the US Capitol and Saint Nicholas Cathedral, Washington DC.
