On Sunday, May 14, 2017, His Beatitude, Metropolitan Tikhon concelebrated the Divine Liturgy with His Eminence, Metropolitan Hilarion [Alfeyev], Chairman of the Department of External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, at Saint Nicholas Cathedral, Washington, DC. Also concelebrating were His Grace, Bishop John of Naro-Fominsk, Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes in the USA, and His Grace, Bishop Daniel of Santa Rosa.
Metropolitan Hilarion was in the US as part of the delegation of the Russian Orthodox Church that participated in the World Summit in Defense of Persecuted Christians, sponsored by the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association in the US capital May 10-13.
The day also marked the 52nd anniversary of the repose of His Eminence, Metropolitan Leonty, who served as Primate from 1950 until his death in 1965. See related article.
