Metropolitan Tikhon Sends Condolences on the Falling Asleep of Metropolitan Amfilohije
His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon, Primate of the Orthodox Church in America, sent a letter of condolence to His Holiness, Patriarch Irinej of the Serbian Orthodox Church, on the sudden falling asleep of His Eminence Metropolitan Amfilohije, Metropolitan of Montenegro. Metropolitan Amfilohije died on Friday, October 30 after being hospitalized with complications from the Coronavirus earlier in the month.
His Beatitude noted Metropolitan Amfilohije’s public role in defending the Serbian Orthodox Church in Montenegro. “Standing up for the Church in the face of persecution, Metropolitan Amfilohije was known as a man who did not waver from ‘speaking the truth in love’. His manner of life has been an example to us all, and in particular, to those of us who bear the yoke of hierarchical leadership.”
