Metropolitan Tikhon to open 115th Annual Pilgrimage to St. Tikhon’s Monastery

His Beatitude, Metropolitan Tikhon will preside at the 115th Annual Memorial Day Pilgrimage to Saint Tikhon’s Monastery, which officially opens today—Friday, May 24, 2019—at 4:00 p.m. with the greeting of the Hawaiian Myrrh Streaming Icon of the Iveron Mother of God at the monastery’s iconic entrance arch.  A Molieben will be celebrated in the Monastery Church of Saint Tikhon of Zadonsk, followed by Vespers and Matins 4:30 p.m.  All pilgrims are invited to the dinner that will follow in the dining hall, during which the opening lecture, titled “Christ, the Fountain of our Life,” will be presented by Hieromonk Herman [Majkrzak].

The icon will be available for veneration throughout the Pilgrimage, which formally ends on Memorial Day—Monday, May 27.

Pilgrims from near and far will be welcomed by Abbot Sergius and the monastic brotherhood for four days of liturgical services, lectures, choral presentations and opportunities for prayer and fellowship on the grounds of North America’s oldest Orthodox Christian monastic community.  In addition, Saint Tikhon’s Orthodox Theological Seminary [STOTS] will hold its 77th Commencement Exercises on Saturday, May 25.
