Matushka Paula Soucek, of Old Forge, PA, fell asleep in the Lord on Sunday, June 23, 2024 at her home. Her beloved husband, the Archpriest Pavel, fell asleep in the Lord on January 15, 2009.
Matushka Paula was born in Tabor, Czech Republic and came to the United States as a young girl. She was known for her love of singing for the glory of God and was the choir director, most recently at Saint Michael’s Orthodox Church, Old Forge, PA and numerous other Orthodox churches in America. Throughout her life, she was always there to lend a helping hand at all the parishes she and her late husband served, through baking, cooking and fund raising.
She is survived by her two sons, John and Jacob (Melissa); eight grandchildren, Christina, Sarah, John, Paul, Mary, Anna, Lucy and Mikaela; two great grandchildren, Giovanni and Giselle; and a daughter-in-law, Michelle.
Family and friends are invited to attend the viewing on Sunday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Semian Funeral Home, 704 Union St. Taylor. Her funeral will be Monday at 11:00 AM in All Saints Chapel at St. Tikhon’s Monastery, PA, followed by burial.
