On Saturday, November 21, 2020, Archpriest Alexander Rentel, Chancellor of the Orthodox Church in America, celebrated the Divine Liturgy at St. Sergius Chapel for the feast of the Entrance of the Theotokos into the Temple. After liturgy, Fr. Alexander greeted His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon in the joy of the feast. Fr. Alexander offered a brief sermon during which he pointed out that both this feast and the civil feast of Thanksgiving help prepare us to celebrate the upcoming feast of the Nativity. Like the Theotokos, we should prepare ourselves to bring forth Christ into the world by entering into a life of holiness. Additionally, Thanksgiving provides a wonderful opportunity to give thanks to God for the wondrous and diverse gifts he has given us.
