His Beatitude, Metropolitan Tikhon joined Chancery staff members, faithful and friends of Archpriest Basil Summer at the Chancery’s Saint Sergius of Radonezh Chapel for the celebration of the Divine Liturgy marking Father Basil’s 90th birthday on Sunday, January 31, 2016.
Father Basil celebrated the Liturgy with Archdeacon Joseph Matusiak and delivered the homily. At the conclusion of the Liturgy, Metropolitan Tikhon presented a Synodal Gramota to Father Basil and spoke of the example has offered to so many faithful throughout the years. A festive luncheon followed.
Prior to his retirement, Father Basil had served as Rector of Saint Mark Church, Bethesda, MD prior to assuming duties at the Chancery as the Director of the Fellowship of Orthodox Stewards.
May God continue to grant Father Basil many years of witness and service to the Lord!
