On the evening of Thursday, January 24, 2013—the eve of the annual March for Life in the US capital—Vespers was celebrated at the Orthodox Church in America’s Saint Nicholas Cathedral, Washington, DC.
His Beatitude, Metropolitan Tikhon presided at the service, which was celebrated by Archpriest John Kowalczyk, rector of Saint Michael Church, Jermyn, PA and well known pro-life advocate.
Other members of the Holy Synod of Bishops present at the service included His Eminence, Archbishop Nathaniel of Detroit and the Romanian Episcopate; His Eminence, Archbishop Nikon of Boston, New England and the Albanian Archdiocese; His Grace, Bishop Melchisedek of Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania, Locum Tenens of the Diocese of Philadelphia and Eastern Pennsylvania; and His Grace, Bishop Michael of New York and New York and New Jersey.
